I hate the idea of a “social” Wall Street Journal. I hate the idea of a newspaper that gives in to my social graph. News should be about news. Not the silly shit my friends are reading.
You’re supposed to take me out of my comfort zone. Not keep me in it. You’re supposed to tell me things I should know about. Not things I already know.
Don’t feed me ideologies I already buy into.
You’re a newspaper. Not a gossip column.

In an interview last week with the website Talking Points Memo, I mentioned to reporter Carl Franzen that it was probable that more money would be pledged on Kickstarter in the coming year than would be distributed by the NEA. My reasoning was:
- The NEA’s 2012 budget is $146 million
- More than $150 million has been pledged lifetime on Kickstarter
